It’s Summer time! That means changing up your wardrobe and makeup regime. Nothing sucks more than having your makeup slide into your mojito on a hot summer day. I have a couple of tips to keep your face looking beautiful all summer long.
Makeup application starts with Primer. To me it’s the most important thing you’ll put on. Make sure that your primer has silicone in it. It creates a layer between the face and makeup ensuring that it will last all day. The best benefit of silicone primers is no clogging and prevents breakouts. Bonus! My favorite thing to use as a primer is The Monistat Chafing Relief Powder-Gel, it’s a nontoxic silicone primer. I have been using it for 3 years now and highly recommend it.
Oil Free Foundation Pretty Please
Make sure you go light with your foundation application and stick to oil free. If possible, try substituting foundation with a tinted moisturizer or concealer. The key here is to not to pile on too many layers.
No Dreadful Powder Blush
Powder blush looks awful when you sweat. It’s just another layer of powder that will end up looking all cakey on the skin. Opt instead for cream blush. Dust a light, invisible setting powder- just be sure not to get too heavy-handed, the goal is to lock in your look.
No Face Powder Por Favor!
Since we are talking about powder, please none of that thick MAC makeup powder on your delicate skin (no offense MAC, but that stuff is thick). Not only is powder heavy, but mixed with have had sweat and it created a gunky look on your face-No Bueno! Instead opt for a loose translucent powder to set your foundation. The key is to set the foundation without that matte look.
All day, every day, every season, everywhere, every time! Get my point?
Makeup Setting Spray
My personal favorite- and Oprah’s- is Model in a Bottle. Two pumps and Voila! Helps to create a lasting look all day long! The key to finding any setting spray is to find one that allows your skin to breathe. I tend to have very oily skin so I tend to stick to sprays that have a Matte finish.
Overall for summer makeup you want to adopt a ‘less is more’ approach when it comes to your application. Keep it Easy and Breezy My CoverGirls!
